The Anthropic Studies in the Amazon Graduate Program (PPGEAA) is part of the Castanhal campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and started its activities in 2017 with the Academic Master's course.
It has one Area of Concentration: Anthropic Studies; and two Research Lines: Environments, Health and Cultural Practices; and Languages, Technologies and Cultural Knowledge.
The Master's degree is aimed at all holders of a higher degree, regardless of the area of training, who wish to foster continued stricto sensu training and research practice, based on experience with different socio-biodiversities and interaction of knowledge, through analysis, interpretation and proposition of diverse knowledge, speeches and practices generated by anthropic actions in the region.
Its objectives are: to investigate the different forms of anthropism in the Amazon region; map and understand the epistemological imbrications of the diverse realities and cultural and scientific models of human insertion in the region; to establish the decentralization of the production of knowledge about the Amazon, through comparativism and the complementation of academic practices and discourses; to propose critical studies of the local reality, interacting and including the diverse local knowledge, in an intercultural perspective; propose interdisciplinary practices to study local realities, proposing innovative solutions to problems generated by anthropism.
In the end, the PPGEAA graduate should be able to plan, coordinate and carry out scientific research in multisectoral environments; move between the various disciplines studied, being able to work in multidisciplinary groups from an interdisciplinary perspective; assist in the construction of epistemologies agreed with the local / regional reality and with the diverse knowledge of the region, in an intercultural perspective; in addition to being able to problematize their reality, building scientific praxis.
The Program's faculty is composed by a group of 15 professors, three of whom are invited. The selection processes are held on an annual basis, offering 24 vacancies.
